Thanks to Cassie Arner for coming to Mahomet Chamber's monthly luncheon that was held at Yo-Yo's today to share more about UI Athletics. She shared about the free sporting events and other family-friendly activities hosted by the athletic department, the revenue UI sporting events bring into our community, as well as the research that has been conducted to determine if Illinois will be able to move forward with plans to create a hockey team and build a complex downtown Champaign for college hockey games. The complex would also include a sheet of ice that would be dedicated to the community 24/7. How cool is that?
Cassie also discussed a new policy taking effect this year. Did you know that traditional purses/bags are no longer allowed at Memorial Stadium? Illinois is the last in the Big Ten to adopt this safety procedure. Clear bags only! She carries an Illinois clear bag daily and even brought an extra to give away to a lucky member. WAND reported on this new policy a couple days ago. View WAND's story here.
Thanks again Cassie for speaking to our group. Become a member of the Mahomet Chamber of Commerce and you join us at our Chamber Tailgate at Memorial Stadium on September 8th vs. Western Illinois! Details on becoming a member can be found here.
